Body

The planar, asymmetrical composition of the façade, enriched with stylized vernacular and Romanesque details, anticipates the design of the Zebegény church completed in 1908. Particular attention should be given to the asymmetrical placement of the tower on the main façade, as well as to the strongly curved forms of the entrance and the adjacent windows. The dominant gable form of the side elevation, together with the covered entrance, also became a defining feature of the Zebegény design, although on a much less dominant scale.

The design (perspective and elevation drawings) was republished in 1910 under the subtitle “Reformed Church.” The unusual concept—almost entirely identical to the earlier student design for a Rural Church—reduces the importance of the tower–apse axis, thereby indicating that the project was intended for a Reformed congregation.
