Body

This simple terraced house, containing identical apartments on two levels, was designed to accommodate teachers of the local college. The primary intention was to create a building that was low-cost and capable of later expansion.

The comfortable and practical floor plan consisted of two rooms facing the street and a kitchen oriented toward the rear courtyard, all of which were accessed from a central hall. This spatial arrangement is characteristic of Kós’s architectural approach, yet the building’s present external appearance is rather untypical of his work.

Since Kós’s original drawings have not survived, nothing definitive can be stated about his initial architectural concept.
