Public School and Teacher's lodgings, Marosvécs

The small school building with the teacher’s residence resembles the design of the same type published in The Art of the Dwelling House. Undoubtedly, Marosvécs—home to the “Helikon” literary gatherings organized by Baron Kemény—provided Kós with the opportunity to realize this rare example of a “model school.” The otherwise extremely simple design is distinguished by its entrance porch and the projecting wooden ridge turret; however, the role of the porch was significantly reduced by the later addition of an extra classroom.
