Body

The first design variant clearly exemplifies the practical side of Kós’s architectural aesthetic, in which a component element of an architectural mass composition is capable of existing independently in its own right. In terms of function, it is closely related to the 1945 Györgyfalva plan. The hall was positioned at the rear of the wing containing the small shop and the shopkeeper’s dwelling. Whereas the Györgyfalva project was realized in a single phase, this scheme was conceived in two distinct stages. Initially, the hall would have been built as a standalone structure, with the shop and the dwelling added later, at an appropriate stage.

The second design variant depicts a larger building. During this period, Kós prepared similar plans for several different locations.
