Body
The cultural center in Nagybacon was designed by Károly Kós contemporaneously with the Reformed church in Barót (1927). Archival research has not yet revealed the original design drawings; however, three letters and the original cost estimate have survived.
In the first letter (1927), Kós reports on the building and addresses the possibility that the large hall might later be used as a classroom. From a letter written in 1928, we learn that the architect proposed a greyish-blue color for the doors and windows, as the walls were yellowish in tone and the roof covering was red. Construction must have progressed at a good pace, as the building—according to the surviving cost documentation and apparently in accordance with the plans—was completed and handed over in 1929.
